Oniwaa Memorial International School was established on 5th September 1994 at the private residence of its founder, the Late Dame Mrs. Mary Thorpe Wyse. Which began as a modest initiative driven by passion and commitment to child development, it has grown into a respected institution dedicated to academic excellence and character formation.

The name “Oniwaa” reflects the foundational values upon which the school was built, values rooted in discipline, integrity, care, and holistic development of every child. The Late Dame Mrs. Mary Thorpe Wyse, a health professional and nurse by training, brought into education the same compassion, dedication, and attention to detail that defined her career in the health sector. Her vision was to create a nurturing and safe learning environment where children could grow intellectually, morally, and socially.

The first child to be enrolled at the school was Ms. Mitchell Afriyie-Duah, marking the beginning of a journey that has since impacted many lives and families. Following the legacy of the founder, leadership continuity has been maintained within the family. The school’s successor is Nana Serwaa Kaakyire (Current proprietress), who continues to uphold the vision, values, and standards established at its founding. From its humble beginnings in 1994 to its present growth, Oniwaa Memorial International School remains committed to delivering quality education and shaping future leaders with strong moral foundations.
